Senior Staff Engineer, Ads Privacy

Reddit's Ads Privacy team is building the technical infrastructure to enable responsible growth for Reddit Ads. The team centralizes regulatory compliance, abstracts privacy constraints, and maximizes the utility of privatized data. As a Senior Staff Engineer you will define technical vision for cross-organizational initiatives, partner with Security, Legal, Infrastructure and Ads teams, and deliver large-scale systems that scale the Ads business while protecting user privacy. This is a remote role based in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Audit the current state of privacy in Ads and architect solutions for critical initiatives.
• Define long-term technical vision and strategy for Ads Privacy (2+ year horizon).
• Lead large cross-functional projects end-to-end: concept, design, implementation, rollout, and operational excellence.
• Build a privacy platform that all Ads teams can integrate with to access necessary data in a scalable, auditable fashion.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders, data scientists, backend and full-stack engineers, machine learning engineers, and cross-functional partners (Security, Legal, Infrastructure, Privacy).
• Mentor engineers and leaders and contribute to technical growth across teams.
• Stay current on state-of-the-art products and technologies, identify promising innovations, and adapt them to Reddit's platform.

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep familiarity with Ads privacy challenges and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, ePD, ATT, etc.).
• Experience delivering high Ads performance while meeting privacy requirements.
• Ability to act as an individual contributor: design, implement, test, and launch complex product and infrastructure changes across the Ads stack.
• Experience coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts and driving alignment among diverse stakeholders.
• Experience leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diverse Ads experience (Optimization, Delivery, Targeting, Ranking, Bidding, Reporting, etc.).
• Strong understanding of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and industry trends in the PET space.
• Experience with Go, Python, Scala, or JavaScript.
• Understanding of machine learning development and principles.

Pay Transparency

• Base pay range for US-based candidates: $232,500 - $325,500 USD.
