Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only: in-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company offsites and other events.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement next-generation core FinTech systems that power Coinbase.
• Interact with stakeholders across many organizations that build Coinbase products or are responsible for financial operations.
• Participate in shaping the strategy and execution path of FinHub.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables using technical expertise.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in backend software engineering using Golang or similar languages.
• Domain expertise in FinTech and/or trading.
• Proven track record of delivering impactful solutions that power significant fund flows.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency production services.
• Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Strong technical knowledge of building distributed systems that process massive scale.
• Solid communication skills; ability to communicate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical backgrounds.
• Relentless drive to set and achieve ambitious goals.
• Passion for building an open financial system.

Nice to haves

• Practical experience building ledgering or trading systems at large scale.
• Experience in both startups and large enterprises.
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Compensation & Logistics

• Pay Range (target annual salary): $260,100 — $260,100 CAD. Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.).
• Coinbase is remote-first but requires in-person participation throughout the year for team and company offsites. Attendance is expected and supported.
