- Establish documentation quality standards, style guides, and guidelines based on industry expertise and modern DocOps methodologies.
- Build content models and patterns optimized for developer consumption and AI readiness, structuring documentation for LLM integration and future agent capabilities.
- Mentor the documentation team on information architecture, content strategy, and modern documentation practices; encourage craft excellence.
- Make strategic decisions on documentation tooling, infrastructure, and workflows to enable scale across distributed contributors (Product, Engineering, CS, PMM, etc.).
- Define and track documentation efficiency metrics (time-to-first-success, support deflection, developer happiness) to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with management on strategic direction while owning day-to-day technical leadership, operational decisions, and cross-functional influence.
Requirements

Ways to stand out
- Experience at companies known for developer documentation excellence (e.g., Stripe, Atlassian, Twilio, MongoDB) with measurable improvements in adoption or support efficiency.
- Experience with graphics, simulation, robotics, or real-time systems documentation; familiarity with USD, OpenGL, or similar technologies.
- Track record building AI-ready documentation systems (structured content, LLM integration, context systems) with practical implementation experience.
- Established presence in the technical writing community through conference talks, blog posts, or open source contributions.
- Recognized industry expert who has transformed documentation at multiple companies and published thought leadership in DocOps practices.
