About the Role

The Platform organization powers Sentry—cloud infrastructure, streaming systems, storage, deployment, and security. The Software Architect will report to the VP of Engineering and collaborate across the company to shape Sentry's platform, owning core services and technical foundations that enable product and engineering teams to move fast and scale safely.

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs and product strategy into clear, scalable technical blueprints and architectures.
• Partner with product and engineering leaders to align technical roadmaps with company goals.
• Lead cross-cutting initiatives across the Platform org, owning projects end-to-end and driving measurable outcomes.
• Promote engineering excellence: mentor platform engineers, share best practices, and set high standards for system design, scalability, and operational quality.
• Review major architectural proposals and ensure consistency, maintainability, and long-term technical health across the company.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years working in cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, etc.).
• 3+ years in a technical architecture or equivalent leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading cross-team, high-impact engineering projects.
• Ability to create production-quality proofs-of-concept and write high-quality code.
• Deep knowledge of modern infrastructure technologies, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Service Mesh.
• Experience with Kafka and real-time streaming frameworks (examples given: Flink, Beam).
• Experience with OLAP/OLTP databases, blob storage, and caching.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring senior/staff-level engineers.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $250,000 to $310,000. Actual base salary will be determined by factors including work location, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. A successful candidate will be eligible to participate in Sentry's employee benefit plans/programs (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage).
