Details

ClickHouse is the open-source column-oriented database company building a high-performance OLAP database and ClickHouse Cloud. The Core Engineering team works on the ClickHouse open-source project and the Cloud service offering. This role focuses on improving efficiency and quality across both open-source and cloud offerings by building automation for critical operational functions and improving testing infrastructure for large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance test automation frameworks and develop automated test cases.
  • Validate new features and ensure smooth production rollout.
  • Test cross-functional implementations across internal teams.
  • Implement testing strategies and automation for large, complex distributed systems.
  • Evaluate new functionality for each release and identify opportunities for improvement in the codebase.
  • Engineer and improve existing testing infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of SQL.
  • Previous experience in SDET, Release Engineering, or QA roles working with classical databases or distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language (Python, Go, or C++).
  • Ability to read C++ code for validation.
  • Working knowledge of Git, Linux, and shell scripting.
  • Experience with both manual testing and automation testing.
  • Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with remote and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to learn complex technology quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation (US-based ranges shown)

  • New York Area / San Francisco Area: $157,000 - $232,000 USD
  • General US Remote: $133,450 - $197,200 USD
  • Los Angeles, CA / Washington, DC: $141,300 - $208,800 USD
