At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. This role sits on the Application Security organization and focuses on designing, implementing, and deploying baseline security solutions and guardrails to improve the security of Coinbase apps and services. The role collaborates closely with engineering teams, product managers, and security engineers to embed security best practices across the software development lifecycle and to remediate classes of security vulnerabilities at scale.

This team is remote-first but not remote-only: in-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites and other events. Attendance is expected and supported.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy baseline security controls to secure all Coinbase apps and services.
• Design, implement, and deploy security guardrails to eliminate classes of security vulnerabilities at scale.
• Build automation to scale the security review process.
• Support strategic security initiatives focused on improving overall security maturity and efficiency through automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience designing and implementing automated tools in Python or Go.
• Proficiency designing and implementing solutions across various technology stacks and cloud environments (examples listed: AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to articulate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice to haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• AI security experience.
• Experience building security-related systems.
• Experience with threat modeling methodologies and security design reviews used to inform system development.
• Experience with Web3 security concepts, blockchain technologies, and smart contract security.

Pay Transparency Notice

The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

Pay Range: $154,000 — $154,000 CAD
