To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking backend engineers to help build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. You'll work on large-scale, highly complex technical problems that bridge web-scale application constraints with blockchain technology. Teams operate real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates and manage secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud. The Platform Product Group builds trusted, scalable, and compliant foundations used across multiple Coinbase products. This role will join pods within Identity, FinHub and Payments.

Note: While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, they are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year; team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually and attendance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang.
• Design scalable systems to solve novel problems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
• Operate and maintain dockerized infrastructure and real-time, low-latency applications.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services and composing a service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and familiarity with blockchain/crypto concepts is valued.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with rapid company growth (startup -> mid-size).
• Experience with blockchains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Familiarity with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.

Compensation and Logistics

• Location: Remote-first role; in-person participation required periodically.
• Pay Range: 149,500—149,500 CAD (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
