Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer - Coinbase Card)

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world by building the emerging onchain platform and the future global financial system. The Coinbase Card team is building a crypto Card product focused on global availability, safety of funds, reliability and ease of use. Many roles are remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company offsites and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang for the Card program.
• Help articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems.
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience with Card products and building or working on such a product at scale.
• Experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services and composing a service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and for crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to haves

• Experience with rapid company growth (startup to mid-size).
• Built growth experiments or A/B tests.
• Experience with blockchains (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Experience with Golang, Postgres, MongoDB.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability or security systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity.

Compensation & Work Location

• Pay Range: $147,000 — $174,000 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity and benefits).
• Role is remote-first but requires in-person participation throughout the year (team and company offsites). #LI-Remote
