Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer - Stablecoin)

Join Coinbase's Stablecoin Ecosystem team to help deliver a suite of international stablecoins. You will evaluate APIs of external partners, integrate them with internal systems to enable stablecoin operations, and work closely with product, design, and tech leads to deliver features. The role expects strong backend engineering, a focus on high-quality well-tested code, and a commitment to Coinbase's mission of expanding economic freedom.

Responsibilities

• Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems.
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Evaluate and integrate external partner APIs with internal systems to enable stablecoin operations.
• Design, build, scale, and maintain production services in a service-oriented architecture.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
• Familiarity with composing a service-oriented architecture (microservices) and decomposing monoliths.
• Proven ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and interest in crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to haves

• Experience in rapid company growth (startup → mid-size).
• Experience building growth experiments or A/B tests.
• Experience with blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
• Experience decomposing monoliths into microservices.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.

Pay

• Target pay range: $147,000 — $174,000 USD (full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits).

Additional information

• Many roles are remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation and attendance at team/company offsites are expected throughout the year.
