Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to join the Trading team to build and scale the core systems that power crypto trading at Coinbase. This role sits at the intersection of crypto, trading infrastructure, and consumer product. The team ships features ranging from Simple Trade for everyday users to Advanced Trade for professionals, plus Derivatives and Decentralized (DEX) trading.

The role is remote-first but requires in-person participation throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites. #LI-Remote

Pay Range: $154,000 — $154,000 CAD

Responsibilities

• Power highly performant, highly available systems for traders worldwide
• Architect robust systems that are easy to build on top of and support many instrument types (Spot, Futures, Perpetual Futures, and more)
• Work in tight collaboration with product and design to articulate and deliver a best-in-class product experience
• Translate ideas into tangible, high-value features that customers love

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in software engineering, especially handling web-scale traffic
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services over time
• Strong emphasis on product excellence, pairing customer obsession with comprehensive observability
• Ability to empower and cultivate teammates and work closely with cross-functional partners
• Comfortable staying up-to-date with industry standards and best practices

Nice to haves

• Experience on active trading systems or other high-availability financial systems
• Personal experience trading crypto or other financial instruments
• Experience at companies that went through rapid growth (startup → mid-size)
• Experience upgrading or re-architecting legacy systems to next-generation versions
• Experience with Golang, MongoDB, Redis
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity

Interview & Hiring Notes

• For select roles, Coinbase is piloting AI tools to conduct initial screening interviews and to transcribe/summarize interview notes. These pilots are for testing purposes and Coinbase will not use AI to make employment decisions.
• Answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate onchain experience.
