At Coinbase we build the emerging onchain platform and the future global financial system. The Institutional product group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business supporting thousands of large financial institutions. The team builds scalable, secure crypto platforms supporting hundreds of assets and enabling participation with staking, governance and web3 gateways. You will work on real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates and manage secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.
Responsibilities
- Decompose a monolithic Rails application into microservices.
- Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
Requirements
- At least 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
- Practical knowledge of composing a service oriented or microservices architecture.
- Strong emphasis on writing well-tested, high-quality code.
- Experience working with dockerized infrastructure and cloud deployments (cloud provider not specified).
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment focused on high reliability and security.
Nice to haves
- Experience with rapid company growth (startup β mid-size).
- Experience building growth experiments or A/B tests.
- Experience with blockchains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and onchain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
- Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
- Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or Redshift.
- Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.
Compensation
- Pay Range (USD): $152,405 β $179,300 USD (target annual salary; offers also include target bonus, target equity and benefits).
- Pay Range (CAD): $154,000 β $154,000 CAD.
Work model
- Remote-first with required in-person participation throughout the year (team and company offsites multiple times annually). Attendance is expected and supported.
