OpenAI’s Enterprise Identity team builds and maintains the core authentication and authorization systems used across our enterprise products. The team ensures secure, scalable, and seamless access for small businesses and global organizations adopting ChatGPT, API, and other OpenAI offerings.

Role overview

You will lead development of OpenAI’s enterprise identity platform, designing and implementing systems that support SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and identity federation across OpenAI products. Your work will support critical customers and enable safe, large-scale enterprise adoption of OpenAI models.

Responsibilities

• Build the next generation of enterprise authentication and authorization infrastructure, including SAML, OIDC, and OAuth2.0 integrations.
• Design and implement support for enterprise standards: SSO, SCIM provisioning, RBAC, and delegated access.
• Evolve the identity data model and architecture to support complex customer organization structures.
• Partner with GTM, security, and product teams to shape identity features for a range of customers from small businesses to multinational organizations.
• Develop tools and APIs for other engineering teams to integrate enterprise identity seamlessly.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating production authentication and identity systems at scale.
• Fluency in identity protocols and their security considerations (OAuth2.0, SAML, SCIM, OIDC).
• Experience with identity platforms such as Auth0, WorkOS, or Ory Hydra.
• Proficiency in backend development (Python preferred).
• Strong focus on building secure, developer-friendly APIs and infrastructure.
• Interest in shaping how enterprises safely access and govern frontier AI.

Benefits & Compensation

• Base salary range: $240,000 - $370,000 (listed by the employer). In addition to base pay, total compensation includes equity and potential performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
