The Risk Platform Team mission is to foster business growth by effectively managing financial risks impacting the business and its users. The team builds flexible, scalable, and customizable engineering systems to detect and prevent fraud, including real-time, near-real-time, and scheduled workflows.

Responsibilities

• Shape the next generation of Risk Platform architecture that powers Coinbase.
• Articulate long-term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling web and mobile platforms.
• Build trustworthy user experiences: interfaces that are simple, easy to comprehend, performant, and reliable using modern tools like React, React Native, TypeScript, React Navigation, Jest, and Webpack.
• Work with engineers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap.
• Partner with Platform teams (Payments, Finhub, Identity), Product teams, Analysts, Ops, and Machine Learning to detect and prevent fraud and surface new fraud patterns.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards. Contribute positively to team culture.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering, developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern, component-based JS frameworks (e.g., React).
• Experience developing and shipping user-facing features using component-based UI frameworks.
• Familiarity with front-end architecture best practices, including performance, security, and usability.
• Experience collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers through product and design lifecycles.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.

Nice to haves

• Experience on front-end teams in finance or compliance.
• At least 1 year of experience developing React Native mobile apps or migrating native apps to React Native.
• Experience working with fraud detection, risk platforms, or ML-backed detection systems.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

• Target annual salary range provided in the posting: $154,000 — $154,000 CAD. Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
