Software Engineer, Frontend - Risk Platform

Join Coinbase's Risk Platform team to build flexible, scalable engineering systems that detect and prevent fraud across real-time, near-real-time, and scheduled workflows. You will work closely with Platform teams (Payments, Finhub, Identity), Product, Analysts, Ops, and the Machine Learning team to deliver trustworthy, performant web and mobile user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Shape the next generation of Risk Platform architecture that powers Coinbase.
• Articulate long-term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling web and mobile platforms.
• Build simple, comprehensible, performant, and reliable interfaces using modern tools such as React, React Native, TypeScript, React Navigation, Jest, and Webpack.
• Turn technical vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and senior leadership.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Partner with Analysts and Ops to uncover new fraud patterns and with the Machine Learning team to develop and train models for fraud detection and prevention.
• Add positive energy and inclusive collaboration across meetings and interactions.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering, developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern component-based JS frameworks (e.g., React).
• Experience developing and shipping user-facing features using component-based UI frameworks.
• Familiarity with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security, and usability.
• Comfortable collaborating with designers, engineers, and product managers throughout product and design lifecycles.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.

Nice to haves

• Experience on front-end teams in the finance or compliance space.
• At least 1 year of experience developing React Native mobile apps or helping migrate native apps to React Native.

Location & Work Model

• Remote-first role with in-person participation required throughout the year (team and company offsites multiple times annually). #LI-Remote

Pay

• Pay Range: $152,405 — $179,360 USD (target annual salary). Full-time offers may also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
