The company emphasizes an intense work culture with in-person participation required throughout the year (team and company offsites held multiple times annually).

This is a 12-week internship during summer 2026. Interns will join teams building the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, solving large-scale, complex technical problems that bridge web-scale application constraints and blockchain technology. Work includes operating real-time applications with high frequency, low-latency updates, and managing secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

Teams & Internship Locations

• Product Group (internship location = San Francisco): Base (Ethereum Layer 2 / OP Stack), Consumer (Coinbase retail app, self-custody wallet, dApps, staking), Developer (Wallet-as-a-Service, Coinbase Cloud), Institutional (custody, staking, Onchain gateways), Platform (Identity, FinHub, Payments, ML-powered automation).
• Core Group (internship location = New York City): Security (Security Platform Engineering, Workforce IAM Platform), Enterprise Applications & Architecture (EAA) (internal platforms, automation, support/HR tools).

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into a roadmap and deliverable projects.
• Work on systems that require consideration for scale, latency, and security, and help operate dockerized infrastructure in the cloud.

Requirements

• Programming experience (class, personal projects, or work). Coinbase systems are commonly written in Golang, JavaScript, and Ruby, though experience with any language is not strictly required.
• Interest in how people interact with products and a drive to build user-loved experiences.
• Self-motivated, committed to personal growth, and receptive to feedback.
• Positive, problem-solving approach to technical challenges.

Nice to Haves

• Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Golang, MongoDB, AWS, Docker, Postgres, Ruby, and Rails.
• Experience developing React Native mobile apps.

Pay Transparency

Depending on work location, the pay range shown is $60 — $60 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
