Role description
Software Engineering Interns at Sentry write real code on real projects that ship to production. Interns are matched with Product or Infrastructure Engineering teams based on interests and experience and are expected to lead a project from ideation to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Be matched with a Product or Infrastructure Engineering team.
- Design, develop, test, and ship programming solutions that deliver value to customers.
- Lead a project including writing a technical spec, scoping work, implementation, testing, and shipping code.
- Receive and act on mentorship, feedback, and coaching from your manager and teammates.
- Contribute to Sentry's open-source codebase as part of day-to-day work.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate degree program in Computer Science (or similar).
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, or a similar dynamic programming language via internships, personal projects, or coding competitions.
- At least one previous internship or equivalent practical experience (while prior internship is not strictly required, applicants should demonstrate the abilities below):
- Experience working with GitHub.
- Experience collaborating with a team on an engineering project.
- Ability to pick up a new programming language quickly.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of algorithms and data structures.
- This position begins May 2026.
- Willing to relocate to San Francisco for the duration of the internship (Sentry provides relocation assistance and a housing stipend).

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage: $53.13 per hour (the base hourly wage range Sentry expects to pay for this position).

Work model
- Hybrid: anchor days in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Interns are expected to be in San Francisco and able to work on-site per the hybrid schedule for the duration of the internship.
