Sentry is building performance and error monitoring tools used by thousands of organizations. As a Software Engineer (New Grad) you will join an engineering team working on problems ranging from building fast, delightful UIs to architecting systems that ingest, store, and index terabytes of data daily. You will be coached by experienced engineers and contribute directly to a complex, growing codebase.
Responsibilities
- Develop and extend the Sentry product by writing software in Python and/or JavaScript.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, and operating in production.
- Build user-facing features and backend systems that handle large volumes of events and performance data.
- Communicate effectively with team members, other teams, and stakeholders (including product managers).
- Accept feedback and act on coaching and mentorship from managers and teammates.
Requirements
- B.S. or higher in Computer Science or a similar degree program.
- At least one previous internship or equivalent practical experience.
- Implementation skills with one or more general-purpose programming languages (examples given: Python, JavaScript, Java).
- Good knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design principles.
- Experience working with version control and unit testing.
- Willingness and ability to operate code in production (monitoring, debugging, and maintaining services).
- Interest in contributing to open-source projects and using the product you build (Sentry dogfoots its product).

Work model
- Hybrid work model with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays as in-office anchor days in San Francisco to encourage collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $135,000 to $145,000 (actual offer will depend on factors such as location, experience, and skills).
- Eligible for Sentry employee benefit plans/programs applicable to the role (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage).
