The Community You Will Join
The Profile & Community team is hiring for a backend Software Engineer. The team focuses on empowering users to authentically represent themselves and connect with others, building a vibrant, real-world community. The team supports guests, hosts, and businesses by developing scalable systems for user profiles and community features, ensuring every interaction on Airbnb fosters genuine connection and belonging.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other engineering teams across the stack and work closely with counterparts within Knowledge Graph, Search, Listings, Trips, and others to build scalable and high-quality platforms and foundations.
- Work with cross-functional partners to define and execute on products and features that enable guests and hosts to set up their accounts and profiles quickly and easily.
- Build efficient and reusable backend components; architect reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
- Evaluate and prototype new technologies and techniques that can enable faster iterations and execution across the tech stack.
- Mentor and support other engineers in the team or in related teams.
Requirements / Your Expertise
- 3+ years industry experience.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products or systems.
- Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
- Ability to drive alignment, manage projects, and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
Location & Work Policy
- This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.

- The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors (training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands). The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Pay Range
- $157,000—$180,600 USD
