The Technical Success team is responsible for the customer experience on the OpenAI suite of products, ensuring developers and enterprises maximize benefit, value, and adoption from our highly-capable models. OpenAI's customers represent a range of diverse backgrounds and maturity, from early-stage startups to established global enterprises.
About the role
We are seeking a Solutions Engineer to partner with Digital Native customers and ensure they achieve tangible business value from OpenAI models and products. You will partner with senior business stakeholders to understand pre-sales needs, guide AI strategy, identify high-value use cases, and recommend architectural patterns to kickstart implementations. You will work closely with Digital Native Sales, Security, and Product teams.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY and follows a hybrid work model (3 days in the office per week). Relocation assistance is offered to new employees. The role includes pre-sales technical advisory, demo and prototype development, and serving as a first line for security and compliance questions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver an exceptional pre-sales customer experience for Digital Native prospects and customers by providing technical expertise and answering product, API, and LLM-related questions.
- Demonstrate how OpenAI's products can meet customers' business needs and deliver business value, including building and presenting demos, scoping use cases, and recommending architecture patterns.
- Create and maintain documentation, guides, and FAQs discovered during pre-sales.
- Develop and nurture strong customer relationships through evaluation, validation, and purchasing processes.
- Represent the voice of the customer internally by gathering feedback and identifying cross-customer themes for product planning.
- Serve as first-line support for security and compliance questions, explain standard collateral and resources, and escalate complex requirements as needed.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales or similar role, selling to technology companies and managing technical and business relationships with complex organizations.
- Thorough understanding of IT security principles and customer requirements for technical B2B SaaS products; experience providing higher-level security and compliance support.
- Foundational training in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Experience delivering prototypes of Generative AI or traditional ML solutions and knowledge of network/cloud architecture.
- Strong presentation and communication skills; ability to translate business and technical topics to all audiences, including senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to own problems end-to-end and learn missing knowledge to accomplish goals.
- Collaborative, humble attitude with eagerness to support colleagues and contribute to team success.
