Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company that builds observability tooling used by millions. The Databases team owns telemetry databases such as Mimir (metrics), Loki (logs), Tempo (traces), and Pyroscope (profiles). These projects are open source and run as cloud services and on-premise solutions. The team builds multi-tenant distributed systems implemented in Go and running on Kubernetes across major cloud providers (GCP, Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

  • Influence roadmap and set personal career objectives
  • Deliver new features and iterate based on results and feedback
  • Drive projects from ideation through to production and operations
  • Contribute to open-source projects and collaborate across teams
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership for reliability, performance, and availability
  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of running services
  • Mentor and support teammates and participate in design discussions
  • Communicate effectively in a remote-first environment

Requirements

  • Solid experience with at least one programming language. Go is used widely across the team; familiarity with Python, C, C++, Rust or similar is also valuable
  • Experience delivering projects end-to-end (requirements, design, implementation, shipping)
  • Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud OR experience with systems engineering
  • Ability to write clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setup

Bonus / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker
  • Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles (including on-call experience)
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with on-call, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code

  • All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
