This role supports product strategy by identifying opportunities, conducting exploratory analyses, driving experimentation, and mentoring other data scientists.
Location: US remote-friendly or any office location - San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York
Responsibilities
- Help build long-term product strategy by identifying opportunities to attract new users, increase engagement, and drive retention.
- Influence strategic roadmaps through data-driven insights into user behaviors and needs.
- Design metrics to evaluate product and business health and implement any ETL development needed for consistent and robust analysis.
- Drive experimentation from design through execution and analysis to maximize learnings and guide investment decisions.
- Build self-serve tools for product and engineering partners to answer common questions and increase data literacy.
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design teams to ensure insights are incorporated into product work.
- Scale impact across the data organization through mentoring, improving processes, and prioritizing problems.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. or Bachelors, minimum 6+ years industry data science experience; if Ph.D., minimum 4+ years industry data science experience.)
- Expert knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and preferred programming languages of the team (R and/or Python).
- Familiarity with causal inference techniques and causal models.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy with data and to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured, hypothesis-driven, data-supported way.
- Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B testing) and driving experimentation end-to-end.
- Ability to design metrics and implement or coordinate ETL needed for analysis.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with senior leaders and stakeholders; ability to communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor other data scientists and share best practices.
- Entrepreneurial, self-directed, comfortable in fast-paced/innovative environments, and bias toward action.

Pay Transparency
- Base pay range for this position (U.S.): $217,000 - $303,900 USD.
- Role may be eligible for equity (restricted stock units) and other compensation depending on position.
