Details

At SentinelOne, we are driven by a clear purpose: to give the advantage to those who secure our future. As AI reshapes how organizations build, operate, and innovate, the responsibility to protect them becomes more critical than ever. When you join SentinelOne, your work helps protect global enterprises, critical infrastructure, and the technologies shaping tomorrow.

Role overview

As a Staff Forward Deploy Engineer you will sit at the intersection of customers and product. Your time splits between customer engineering teams and SentinelOne codebases — shipping integrations, fixes, and platform improvements required by customer deployments. Your work will touch many products and services across the company including the data pipeline, the Singularity Data Lake, and EventDB (a highly scalable columnar database ingesting petabytes of data per day). You will own customer engagements end-to-end, translate ambiguous requirements into shipped solutions, and contribute upstream fixes and tooling to the core product.

Responsibilities

  • Fullstack software development (primarily React and modern Java): implement integrations, write robust tests, fix bugs, and ensure secure code.
  • Partner with customers and field teams to gather requirements, design technical strategies, and produce runbooks and integration documentation.
  • Design, deliver, and enable customer integrations — often working alongside customer engineers and producing knowledge transfer materials.
  • Contribute fixes and improvements upstream to core platform teams and build tooling to scale Forward Deploy practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship for the Forward Deploy Engineering team; set standards for scoping and delivery.
  • Architect end-to-end solutions for complex, loosely defined problems spanning multiple codebases; write and review technical specifications.
  • Champion code quality through thorough code review and guidance across visited codebases.
  • Respond to ad-hoc customer and internal escalations (no regular on-call rotation) and collaborate in team syncs and Slack.

Requirements

Experience

  • 6+ years of engineering experience with a solid computer science background, including both backend and frontend work.
  • Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems or data-intensive services.
  • Track record of leading substantial projects end-to-end under ambiguity with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working directly with customers or senior stakeholders to shape technical solutions.

Technical mastery

  • Deep proficiency in at least one production language (Java strongly preferred; 5+ years) and working comfort in at least one additional language.
  • Experience with modern Java (lambdas, composition over inheritance) and fullstack development patterns.
  • Familiarity or experience likely with: React, TypeScript, Kafka, Redis, GraphQL, Node.js, and SentinelOne platform components.
  • Comfortable discussing distributed systems trade-offs (CAP theorem) and selecting appropriate data structures and architectures.

Domain familiarity & mindset

  • Experience in the cybersecurity domain (SIEM, EDR/XDR, log pipelines, detection engineering, threat hunting) strongly preferred.
  • Practical, collaborative mindset: able to become productive in unfamiliar codebases quickly, translate vague customer requests into concrete solutions, and balance near-term unblock vs. long-term fixes.
  • Strong written communication skills for tickets, design docs, runbooks, and executive briefings.
  • Commitment to mentorship and helping other engineers grow.

Benefits

  • Equity & rewards: Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • Time off & wellbeing: Flexible time off, paid company holidays, paid sick time, gender-neutral parental leave, grandparent leave.
  • Insurance & financial: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, life and disability insurance, health and dependent care FSA, voluntary benefits, Employee Assistance Program, ARAG legal, pet insurance, Cancer Care program, global business travel medical insurance.
  • Work perks & flexibility: Home office allowance, mobile phone reimbursement.
  • Wellness & lifestyle: Wellness coach, gym reimbursement, fertility coverage, adoption & surrogacy reimbursement.

Compensation & other notes

  • This is a U.S. role. Base salary range: $156,000—$215,000 USD (varies by candidate location; other ranges may apply for some locations and will be provided during recruiting).
  • SentinelOne participates in the E-Verify Program for all U.S.-based roles and is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
