Staff Frontend Engineer - Grafana Databases, Adaptive Telemetry | USA | Remote

Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company building observability tooling used by millions. The Databases department owns and operates telemetry databases (Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles) and offers them as Cloud and self-managed products. The Adaptive Telemetry group develops Adaptive Metrics, Adaptive Logs, Adaptive Traces and Adaptive Profiles and ships Grafana plugins (TypeScript + React) to allow users to adjust behavior or accept system recommendations.

This is a remote opportunity for applicants in USA time zones only. As a Staff Frontend Engineer you will contribute across multiple work streams, shape product and technical direction, collaborate with frontend and backend engineers, write and review PRs and design documents, and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Influence roadmap and define career objectives.
• Deliver new features and iterate based on results and feedback.
• Lead and manage projects end-to-end from ideation through delivery.
• Contribute to cross-team projects beyond your immediate scope.
• Mentor and support other team members; participate in design discussions.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team culture with psychological safety.
• Work effectively in a remote-first environment; participate in video meetings and asynchronous collaboration.

Requirements

• Strong experience building web applications, ideally developed with React.
• Experience developing TypeScript applications (Grafana plugins are TypeScript apps built with React in this org).
• Solid experience writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests using modern testing frameworks.
• Ability to write clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable.
• Leadership experience: guiding and supporting other engineers and driving initiatives to completion.
• Pragmatic approach to break down complex challenges, deliver MVPs, gather data, and iterate.
• Good communication skills for fully remote squad-based work.

Bonus (nice to have)

• Experience with TanStack.
• Experience with Playwright.
• Experience developing Grafana plugins.
• Experience with backend languages like Go.
• Prior use of Grafana or other observability tools.

Compensation & Rewards

• United States base compensation range: USD 168,256 - USD 201,907 (actual compensation may vary by level, experience, and skillset).
• All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Benefits may include equity, bonus (if applicable), and other benefits.
