The Client Products & Emerging Tech team builds impactful app-wide product features and frameworks for Airbnb’s Guests and Hosts with new and existing technologies to provide a cohesive user experience. The Staff iOS Engineer joining this team will play a critical role in the end-to-end development of product areas that leverage emerging technologies. They will collaborate closely with Design partners to rapidly ideate, prototype, develop, and ship innovative product experiences.

The team is part of the Product Foundations organization, which is responsible for Airbnb’s product infrastructure including Design System (DS), UI frameworks, media frontend, and data access across different client platforms (Android, iOS, and Web). It plays a central role in Airbnb’s overall client strategy, contributes to libraries such as Lottie and Epoxy, and has more recently enabled Airbnb’s transition to SwiftUI.

Responsibilities

• Explore, shape, and develop new product experiences alongside cross-functional partners (design and product); from ideation to implementation at scale.
• Establish a technical vision and lead efforts to architect, build, and launch reliable, performant, and scalable solutions to unlock product innovation.
• Develop prototypes to validate ideas while proactively considering long-term implications on technical design and architecture.
• Translate prototypes to high-quality, scalable, and maintainable production code through iterative development.
• Partner with peer engineering teams to integrate new features that impact different areas within the product.
• Provide critical input in team roadmap and technical direction.
• Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to adopt team goals and roadmaps.
• Identify areas of improvement and drive best practices.
• Mentor, guide, and support the career growth of individual contributors.

Requirements / Qualifications

• 9+ years of building iOS consumer applications at scale, preferably in Swift.
• Expertise in Swift or Objective-C, UIKit, and SwiftUI, as well as knowledge of UI architecture and UI performance.
• Passion for new technologies and product development with prior experience shipping delightful user experiences that include fluid interactions, motion, and graphics.
• Strong cross-functional partnership skills and ability to independently lead projects from start to finish.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams, architecting, building, and releasing complex user products.
• Proactive in upleveling yourself and others through curiosity, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Bachelors, Masters and/or Ph.D preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• Location requirement: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (see Airbnb careers for excluded states and details).

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $204,000—$255,000 USD.
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
