Details

At SentinelOne, we’re redefining cybersecurity by pushing the limits of what’s possible—leveraging AI-powered, data-driven innovation to stay ahead of tomorrow’s threats.

The EventDB team is responsible for SentinelOne's highly scalable columnar database which ingests petabytes of data and trillions of events per day. EventDB (born from the acquisition of Scalyr/DataSet) is engineered to efficiently scale to exabytes and is a critical component of our security and data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain high-quality production code (70–80% of time; primarily Java). Write robust tests and ensure secure code.
  • Lead features and epics; architect end-to-end solutions for complex, loosely defined problems.
  • Document design trade-offs, critical implementation details, and data structures.
  • Review technical specifications and provide meaningful feedback to peers; mentor and inspire other engineers.
  • Champion code quality, security, and efficiency through thorough code reviews.
  • Participate in support and on-call rotation to troubleshoot outages and handle security incidents.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, tech leads, architects, product management, sales, and marketing.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of practical software engineering experience with a solid computer science background.
  • Proven expertise designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Java (multiple years of hands-on experience). Deep familiarity with the JVM and garbage collection tuning.
  • Experience or familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and cloud security (FedRAMP referenced).
  • Experience with container orchestration and tooling: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
  • Familiarity with streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and code hosting like GitHub.
  • Experience with columnar databases, large-scale data ingestion, and working with products like DataSet; familiarity with databases such as Cassandra is a plus.
  • Strong system design, algorithms, and data-structure skills; comfort reasoning about CAP theorem and trade-offs.
  • Collaborative mindset, mentoring experience, and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
