Join Coinbase's Country Expansion team to help shape global cryptocurrency adoption and deliver industry-leading customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Act as the tech lead for the first 6 months, focusing on technical projects and directly contributing to code; transition to managing direct reports after this period.
- Spend at least 25% of your time as a strong individual contributor, driving engineering quality and velocity by being an exemplary practitioner.
- Build high-performance services using Golang and gRPC, and create seamless integrations that elevate Coinbase's customer experience.
- Make diligent architectural decisions and foster a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes.
- Collaborate with Product and cross-functional teams to define strategic product roadmaps and ensure delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise.
- Mentor and coach team members on system design techniques and coding standards.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
- Passion for building an open financial system and belief in the power of crypto and blockchain technology.
- Experience with distributed systems, multi-tenant systems, microservices, and system design.
Nice to haves
- Experience going through rapid company growth (from ~10 to 100s of engineers).
- Experience with blockchain technologies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Base, etc.).
- Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
- Experience with Golang, Protobuf, Docker, MongoDB, Postgres, AWS.
- Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-sensitive systems.
- Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
Work model
- Remote-first role but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites. #LI-Remote
- The team spans multiple countries across the Americas (except the United States).
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $217,900β$217,900 CAD (target annual salary). Full-time offers include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
