Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Platform - Payments)

The Payments team is crafting payment solutions, infrastructures, workflows and APIs to facilitate fiat-to-crypto flows and support consumers and institutions across the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop payments platform capable of processing billions of dollars of payments across the globe
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables with technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Write high quality, well tested code and be hands-on with coding
• Plan and implement the multi-year strategy for Payments engineering with technical leadership
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to convert vision into quarterly roadmaps
• Add positive energy, foster inclusion, and engage cross-functional teams
• Engage with upstream teams and enforce SLAs for data availability and quality

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience uplevelling junior engineers via processes and setting a high bar
• Strong understanding of high quality code and software engineering processes and how to foster them
• Passion for building an open financial system and working in the crypto space
• Experience building large distributed systems
• Experience building simple, scalable, and fault tolerant APIs

Nice to haves

• Experience with Golang, gRPC, Docker, Kafka, AWS cloud, Snowflake, Databricks
• Experience in the financial domain
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services

Compensation & Additional Info

• Pay Range: $218,025—$256,500 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision and 401(k))
• Remote-first role but not remote-only; in-person participation and attendance at team and company offsites throughout the year is expected
