The Platform Product Group builds trusted, scalable, and compliant platform components (Product Foundations, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, Infrastructure) used across Coinbase. The Risk Platform team builds scalable, intelligent, and resilient systems to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to protect customers and fight fraud.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop distributed systems and foundational infrastructure components (e.g., dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration).
  • Provide technical structure to teams and collaborate with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using technical expertise.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
  • Design and implement infrastructure used by many engineering teams in production.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and belief in crypto/blockchain technologies.
  • Experience with designing and operating distributed, reliable systems and production infrastructure.

Nice to haves

  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems.
  • Exposure to or experience with online fraud prevention systems.
  • Experience with rapid company growth and decomposing monoliths into microservices.
  • Familiarity or experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres.
  • Crypto-forward experience (onchain activity, interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).

Work model and logistics

  • Many roles at Coinbase are remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year and team/company offsites are held multiple times annually (attendance expected and supported).

Pay

  • Pay Range: $217,900—$217,900 CAD (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.).
