SentinelOne’s Data Platform team builds backend Data Platform services processing daily petabytes of data and trillions of events. This role focuses on Data Ingestion and processing and targets building a best-in-class SaaS solution used for threat hunting and threat intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Majority hands-on software development (70–80% of the time).
- Lead implementations of new specifications and large features/epics; write tests to cover new code or newly found issues.
- Implement with consistent coding patterns with a focus on stability and security.
- Review code and raise quality, stability and security across the team codebase.
- Provide technical guidance and meaningful feedback; understand broader patterns and downstream/upstream dependencies.
- Build and review technical specifications; document trade-offs and critical implementation details/pipelines.
- Deeply understand architecture of ingestion pipelines and connected features.
- Architect end-to-end solutions for complex features with loose problem definitions.
- Participate in support/on-call rotation; respond to and troubleshoot outage incidents and fix newly found issues.
- Help team members solve problems; provide feedback; attend weekly team syncs and provide daily standups in Slack.
Requirements / Skills
- Several years of experience designing and implementing high-scale distributed systems; passion for elegant and simple designs solving complex problems.
- Collaborative development approach: design discussions and code review.
- Experience ingesting and processing petabytes of data daily; addressing high-volume streaming challenges and scaling ingestion pipelines.
- Strong experience writing modern Java (primary), with familiarity or willingness to use Go and Python; openness to learning new paradigms (e.g., Rust).
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms at large scale.
- Deep understanding of technology trade-offs and cost implications to keep systems stable and scalable.
- Ability to identify and bring relevant improvements from literature into production when appropriate.
- Preferred: solid foundation building ingestion pipelines and solving high-volume streaming challenges.
