This role sits on the Consumer Product Group which strives to make the Coinbase retail app the easiest-to-use and fastest experience for accessing crypto. The team builds wallet and consumer-facing products (Coinbase app, advanced trade, dapps, staking) and aims to be the #1 self-custody wallet measured by MTUs and download share.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a mass-market interface for digital currency apps by adding new functionality to existing cryptocurrencies (for example: staking, voting, predicting).
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using technical expertise.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used across engineering teams in production (examples called out in the listing: dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration).

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Passion for building an open financial system and belief in crypto/blockchain technology.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with blockchains (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum).
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security-focused systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with on-chain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services).
• Experience at companies that went through rapid engineering growth (e.g., from 10 to hundreds of engineers).

Work Model

• Many roles at Coinbase are remote-first but not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually; attendance is expected and supported).

Compensation & Pay Transparency

• Pay Range: $218,025—$218,025 CAD (target annual salary for this position as listed). Full-time offers may also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k) where applicable).
