Details

We’re not just building better tech. We’re rewriting how data moves and what the world can do with it. With Confluent, data doesn’t sit still. Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them.

It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together.

One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be the technical lead for several key initiatives for the Stream Governance product at Confluent. The Stream Governance product portfolio enables customers to search, organize, understand, share and access data in a self-service way. You will design, architect, and develop cloud-native, multi-tenant services (e.g., Confluent Stream Catalog, Stream Sharing, Stream Lineage and Data Portal) and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to deliver scalable distributed data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a cloud-native Stream Governance platform for Kafka and real-time data — a multi-tenant, highly available, and scalable service
  • Architect complex engineering systems end-to-end
  • Partner across engineering and key stakeholders to create and execute the roadmap for the Data Streaming Platform
  • Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of the platform technology stack and adopt state-of-the-art solutions
  • Solve complicated technical projects with high quality and provide technical guidance in specialized areas
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a mission-critical service with a 99.99% SLA running on 90+ AWS, GCP, and Azure regions
  • Enhance stability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence across multiple critical systems

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant software development experience
  • Technical expertise in large-scale systems engineering and distributed systems
  • 5+ years designing, building, and scaling distributed systems
  • Experience running production services in the cloud and participating in on-call rotations
  • Expertise in cloud-native technology, including networking & security
  • Prior experience working on AWS, GCP, or Azure and a deep understanding of cloud best practices
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams; ability to influence teams and stakeholders
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (advanced degree preferred)
