Join Airbnb's Identity Team to help enhance transparency and trust across our global community. This role focuses on identity verification, business verification, misuse detection, and vendor optimization. You will collaborate with product, design, privacy/legal, operations, and data science teams to build robust, scalable systems that verify users and businesses and reduce fraud and misuse on the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Work on systems at scale with large data sets and continuously improve applications for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists to identify opportunities for business impact, refine and prioritize engineering requirements, and drive engineering decisions.
  • Hands-on prototype, develop, productionize, and test solutions and defenses to existing and emerging fraud trends.
  • Lead high-impact initiatives to streamline vendor integrations, evaluate vendor performance, and reduce reliance on vendors by investing in internal capabilities.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers.

Requirements

  • 9+ years industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products or systems.
  • Experience in fraud prevention or identity systems.
  • Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder alignment skills; ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.

Additional focus areas described in the role

  • Identity Verification Expansion: develop next-generation verification methods to address evolving threats and verification challenges.
  • Business Verification: design capabilities to represent and verify businesses (professional hosts) as first-class entities on the platform.
  • Identity Misuse: identify and incorporate new user signals to improve detection strategies and reduce identity misuse and fraud.
  • Vendor Optimization: streamline vendor usage, reduce costs, and develop internal ML/Computer Vision/AI solutions to lower vendor dependence.

Location & Work Model

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
  • Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states are excluded).
  • Offices: United States.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $204,000 — $255,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
