Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and manage corporate infrastructure ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability across a variety of platforms.
- Design and maintain scalable infrastructure using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, ArgoCD).
- Develop workflows and CI/CD pipelines to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, and training materials.
- Respond to operational incidents and security vulnerabilities, perform root cause analyses, and implement system improvements.
- Develop roadmaps and OKRs to align technical initiatives with business priorities.
- Foster collaboration across teams, mentor individual contributors, and share knowledge.
Requirements
- 9+ years of systems engineering experience managing Linux/Windows infrastructures in cloud environments using infrastructure as code.
- Expertise in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes EKS/GKE).
- Proficiency with infrastructure automation (Terraform), Kubernetes package management (Helm), deployment tools (Git, ArgoCD), CI/CD (Jenkins), and configuration management (Chef).
- Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and teams.
- Expert-level monitoring and observability skills with Grafana and OpenSearch.
- Ability to create technical documentation, service catalogs, and incident reviews.
- Understanding of cost optimization for infrastructure.
- Knowledge of security, risk assessment, failure-mode analysis, and resilient system design.
- Excellent collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields; Ph.D. preferred.
- Deep knowledge of multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure).
- Participation in technical communities, open-source contributions, speaking, or blogging.
- Experience leading diversity initiatives and mentoring.
- Project or portfolio management experience.
Location and Work Policy
- US Remote Eligible, must reside in state where Airbnb has a registered entity.
- Occasional office or offsite work as agreed with manager.
Compensation
- Base salary range from $180,000 to $225,000 USD.
- Potential eligibility for bonuses, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.
