Perplexity is looking for experienced Infrastructure Engineers to join a small, high-impact team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. You will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of tools, systems, and platforms that empower web, mobile, and browser engineers to build state-of-the-art products. You will enable product, AI, and developer teams to innovate quickly while ensuring reliability, security, and performance at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and scaling of tools, systems, and platforms for internal and customer-facing services.
  • Build and maintain critical infrastructure including backend systems (authentication, real-time data flows, service orchestration) and frontend frameworks that ensure fast, reliable, and secure user experiences.
  • Empower engineers across the company by improving developer experience: source control, build, test, and deployment systems; CI/CD; onboarding; and developer tooling.
  • Architect and operate mission-critical cloud infrastructure: compute, storage, and networking for high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
  • Collaborate closely with product, AI research, security, and other engineering teams to maintain high standards for code quality, uptime, and developer productivity.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Infrastructure Engineer (senior or staff level) working on scalable, reliable systems.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and operate infrastructure and developer platforms that support rapid product and model scale.
  • Familiarity with the technologies listed in the tech stack (Python, Go, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, FastAPI, React, Bazel, GitHub, AWS).
  • Experience with CI/CD, build/test/deploy pipelines, and developer experience tooling.
  • Experience operating cloud infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency workloads and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Cash compensation: $200,000 - $300,000 per year (final offer determined by experience and expertise).
