Responsibilities

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute on the highest-potential opportunities to accelerate Perplexity’s delivery cadence with frontier AI capabilities.
  • Develop empathy for the nuances of technical and business teams’ work across disciplines and collaborate to harness AI in new ways.
  • Make codebases, systems, and knowledge stores legible to AI.
  • Optimize the quality-velocity balance while pushing the frontier outward using AI tools and agents.
  • Stay current with new AI tools/models and set an example by effectively using them.
  • Help the company make high-conviction technology bets in uncertain situations.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership and recruiting to foster an AI-forward culture and select fitting candidates.
  • Build prototypes and production systems, and reengineer codebases, infrastructure, processes, and any other necessary systems.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years industry experience, preferably with a significant focus on infrastructure/platform engineering or developer acceleration.
  • Daily use and strong intuition of AI models/tools.
  • Proficiency in Python and working fluency with Typescript.
  • Broad understanding of the stacks used by AI product and applied research companies (e.g., knowledge of CUDA usage).
  • Strong empathy for technical staff work across disciplines and enthusiasm to learn business and operations work.
  • Obsession with improving software and process legibility and reducing brittleness.
  • Experience balancing exploration-exploitation tradeoffs, shipping immediate value while building capacity for the future.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Cash compensation range: $250,000 - $325,000 per year (final offer depends on experience and expertise).
  • Equity may be part of the total compensation package.
