Airbnb is seeking a Technical Staff Security Program Manager to lead strategic initiatives for Data Security that protect the company and enable Infosec and cross-functional partners to increase velocity and accelerate strategic outcomes. The role requires an experienced technical program manager with a strong technical background and practical knowledge across data/software engineering, AI/ML, and security disciplines. This position is US - Remote Eligible (you must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity). The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and structure programs: align on program scope, plan, vision, business goals, and secure cross-functional support.
- Run Steering Committee meetings to make decisions, remove obstacles, and resolve program issues.
- Drive teams composed of software engineering and data professionals with practical security knowledge and strong analytical skills.
- Act as a trusted partner for senior leadership and functional leaders to focus on business objectives and ensure program success.
- Conduct workgroup alignment meetings to resolve strategic/tactical issues, manage dependencies, review metrics, and track milestones.
- Provide ongoing visibility into program status (decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics) through regular status reporting to stakeholders.
- Manage dependencies across multiple teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.
- Anticipate and remove obstacles that slow or prevent program teams from delivering program goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and learning.
- Act as a thought leader and change agent to drive strategic outcomes and lead transformative changes.
Requirements
- 9+ years of industry experience, with at least 6 years as a Technical Program Manager (TPM) or equivalent experience.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Seasoned TPM with experience managing company-wide security technology programs and balancing trade-offs and competing priorities.
- Deep understanding of technology and its application to business challenges; able to convert strategic goals into actionable plans.
- Experience working with teams in data engineering, software engineering, AI/ML, and security or exposure to similar technical stacks.
- Strong collaborator and influencer: proven ability to build relationships across teams and drive alignment with senior leaders, technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience using data to inform decisions, measure progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor communication for different audiences.
- Leadership and mentorship experience; ability to empower others and foster a culture of continuous learning.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and able to connect the dots across complex initiatives.
Benefits & Compensation
- Base pay range: $194,000 β $242,000 USD (actual base pay dependent on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands).
- Role may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
- Remote eligible within the United States where Airbnb, Inc. is registered; occasional office presence or offsites as agreed with manager.
