This 2-year Tech traineeship enables you to steer your career in a direction that suits your talent and passion. The programme combines multiple six-month rotations across Tech domains, online professional and personal skills trainings, group assignments, and global trainee events. Tech at ING covers areas such as DevOps, IT security, architecture, backend development (Java, Python), mobile applications, and cyber security. You will be supported by an HR trainee manager, line manager and senior mentors, and are encouraged to arrange international experience during rotations.
Responsibilities
- Complete three six-month rotations across Tech tracks (examples: DevOps Engineer, IT Security Engineer, Architect, Java Developer, Python Developer, Cyber security, Enterprise Architect, Security Specialist).
- Contribute to a group assignment with trainees from other tracks to solve a business-relevant challenge and practice stakeholder management.
- Arrange your next rotations based on interests and network; take initiative to broaden or deepen technical knowledge.
- During one rotation you will work on sustainability-related topics (sustainable finance, financial health, green tech initiatives) and contribute to ING's sustainability goals.
- Network internally to secure a permanent position after the traineeship and deepen domain expertise in your chosen Tech field.
Requirements
- Master's degree from a university (preferably in Computer Science, Informatics, Software/Computer Engineering or Mathematics) with clear programming affinity.
- Demonstrable passion for Tech and programming; experience with extracurricular and (international) activities is valued.
- Enthusiastic, customer- and colleague-oriented, innovative mindset and drive to turn ideas into reality.
- Interest in learning about banking/finance and good stakeholder management skills.
- Application must be submitted in English and include CV, motivational questions and grade lists (Bachelor and Master until now).

- Gross monthly salary: β¬3,943 (based on a 40-hour week).
- 13th month salary.

Practical information
- Interview schedule: two selection rounds for the April 2026 class. All interviews for selection take place at ING headquarters in Amsterdam.
- Round 1 β November/December 2025 (HR Interviews: 20 Nov - 28 Nov; Business Panels: 4 Dec - 12 Dec)
- Round 2 β January 2026 (HR Interviews: 12 Jan - 16 Jan; Business Panels: 26 Jan - 30 Jan)
