Details

We are looking for an Android Engineer to join the Mobile team at NordVPN. You will work on the NordVPN Android app as part of a larger mobile engineering team, collaborating with web, backend, low-level teams, Product Owners, QA and Support to build and maintain high-quality Android features.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of NordVPN for Android devices.
  • Interact with existing backend REST APIs and provide feedback based on mobile needs.
  • Work with web, backend, and low-level teams to build new features and enhance existing ones.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners and QA/Support to ensure high quality of Android apps.
  • Debug and resolve issues reported by users and internal testing teams.
  • Participate as a member of a large development team composed of engineers (Kotlin background) and QAs.
  • Stay up to date with tools, patterns, and methodologies to ensure high code quality.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of Android development experience.
  • Fluent with Kotlin.
  • Experience with MVVM and Clean architecture patterns.
  • Experience with Room or SQLite databases.
  • Familiarity with reactive programming libraries such as Coroutines and/or RxJava.
  • Knowledge of modern Android ecosystem libraries and trends (e.g., Jetpack Compose, Hilt).
  • Experience with debugging tools and resolving user-reported issues.
  • Experience writing unit and UI tests.
  • Excellent knowledge of Android APIs and the Android SDK.
  • Experience working with large codebases.

Bonus Points

  • Networking knowledge (OSI stack) and previous experience developing VPN solutions.
  • Experience with the Android TV ecosystem.
  • Experience with agile methodology.
