Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

As a small team that works closely with Stripe's senior leaders, we evaluate, execute, and integrate strategic acquisitions and investments that accelerate our roadmap. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the internet economy. We are looking for a professional with 2+ years of relevant experience to join our high-impact team in either San Francisco or New York.

What you’ll do

Stripe Corporate Development is hiring a sharp, agile, and entrepreneurial Associate to support our growing M&A and venture efforts. This hybrid role is responsible for the full deal lifecycle, from sourcing and diligence on new investments to deal execution and hands-on operational support for our portfolio founders.

This is a high-impact role for someone excited to learn every angle of corporate development—from venture investing to strategic M&A—at a fast pace. You’ll work directly with Corporate Development leadership and interface with some of the most exciting founders, executives, and companies in fintech and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of operating performance, lead market diligence, and prepare investment memos
  • Screen and analyze inbound investment and M&A opportunities, synthesizing takeaways for the team
  • Participate in founder meetings, providing critical notes and insights
  • Analyze and recommend follow-on investment decisions by tracking portfolio performance and modeling return potential
  • Support customer and expert diligence calls, summarizing key findings
  • Serve as a key point of contact for founders, helping them navigate Stripe, make customer introductions, and connect with internal experts
  • Track and report on portfolio company performance through quarterly updates and internal summaries
  • Help build our founder community by planning programs and events that convene portfolio companies, investors, and others in the ecosystem
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Stripe teams (Sales, BD, Product, etc.) to unlock value for the portfolio
  • Develop investment theses by researching and monitoring emerging trends and disruptive companies
  • Source new deal opportunities that align with our strategic priorities

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • You are a generalist athlete—equal parts analytical, operational, and communicative
  • You have 2+ years of work experience in venture capital, investment banking, or management consulting
  • You possess excellent analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • You are highly organized, responsive, and comfortable context-switching in a fast-paced environment
  • You have strong business judgment and are eager to learn how great investment decisions are made
  • You can work effectively on a global team, both in person and virtually
  • You are excited by Stripe’s mission and the opportunity to support category-defining founders

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior exposure to fintech, B2B SaaS, or infrastructure companies
  • Experience working directly with founders or startup executives
  • Familiarity with Stripe products or APIs

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $132,000 - $198,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

We look forward to hearing from you

At Stripe, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns.
