You and your job

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Instant Payments team. Our instant payment processing solution is built on a vendor-supplied application that runs in our on-premise data centers.

This role demands a deep understanding of DevOps principles and hands-on experience with a wide range of tools and technologies. In addition, knowledge of payment flows—such as ISO formats, SEPA credit transfers and direct debits, as well as clearing and settlement processes—is essential.

Our instant payments platform connects with other banks via our Clearing and Settlement Mechanism (CSM) and integrates with numerous internal applications within Rabobank. As a member of this team, you’ll collaborate closely with other teams, architects, and stakeholders across the organization, making strong communication and coordination skills just as important as your technical expertise.

Practical examples

  • Ensure the stability, compliance, and performance of Rabobank’s Instant Payments services by managing the application, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-powered monitoring tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, simplification, and close collaboration with architects, vendors, and other teams.
  • Embrace a proactive DevOps mindset, including participation in 24/7 standby shifts when needed.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Ensure operational continuity and compliance of the Instant Payments application by monitoring performance, resolving production issues, and aligning with regulatory and security standards.
  • Implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure changes, scripting (e.g. SQL, Ansible), and tooling such as Git, Azure DevOps, and Maven.
  • Collaborate across roles and phases, from refining technical input for the Product Owner to supporting testing, managing architectural changes, and guiding the team during high-priority incidents.

You and your talent

  • 5–8 years of experience with DevOps tools and technologies, including Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation using Python, Shell scripting, and YAML.
  • Proven experience in mission-critical, high-availability banking environments, with a strong understanding of 24/7 payment processing and high-volume transactions.
  • In-depth operational knowledge of application components, such as Java, Linux, Oracle, WebSphere, MQ, JMS, Kong API Gateway, and network infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of security practices, including SSL, certificate management, and digital signing.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, and a strong focus on life-cycle management of application components.
  • Professional proficiency in English, with strong communication skills for collaboration across teams and stakeholders.

In addition to the above, we would highly value if you:

  • Are currently residing in the Netherlands.
  • Hold a valid permanent work permit (if applicable).
  • Possess relevant certifications in areas such as DevOps, Agile/Scrum, payment processing, or CI/CD pipelines.
