Details

Join NVIDIA’s Security Team as Director of the Security Operations Center (SOC), leading the Defense Operations Center to safeguard critical assets that power AI, accelerated computing, autonomous machines, and gaming worldwide. You will drive rapid improvements using short Scrum cycles — from tuning detections to automating playbooks — delivering measurable risk reduction each sprint. This role emphasizes decisive action, cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decisions, and building resilient, trust-based defenses for GPU-accelerated AI/ML pipelines and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, mentor, and develop SOC analysts to build a high-performance, inclusive culture.
  • Architect and continuously improve monitoring, detection, and response across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments, including protection for GPU-accelerated AI/ML pipelines.
  • Facilitate Agile planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; maintain a transparent backlog ordered by risk reduction and customer value.
  • Define, track, and act on metrics such as MTTD, MTTR, and sprint velocity; operate staffing/on-call schedules to balance 24×7 coverage with follow-the-sun hand-offs.
  • Evaluate and integrate security tooling and automation; share threat intelligence and capabilities across the wider NVIDIA security organization.
  • Convey sophisticated security concepts clearly to engineers, executives, and Legal & Compliance partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
  • 15+ years of overall experience in cybersecurity, including 6+ years managing people and budgets within a SOC or incident-response function.
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one SOC-relevant area such as cloud security engineering, log analytics, detection engineering, malware analysis, or security automation.
  • Hands-on experience defending hybrid environments and workloads; experience securing cloud platforms, Kubernetes, containers, and GPU-based AI workloads.
  • Proven success leading teams using Agile/Scrum practices in an operational setting, owning backlog prioritization and sprint metrics.
  • Expert knowledge of global cybersecurity regulations and practical experience embedding regulatory mandates into SOC operations and breach-notification workflows.

Ways to stand out

  • Calm, decisive leadership during high-severity incidents and effective direction of teams under pressure.
  • Track record of deploying security automation, orchestration, or analytics that measurably reduce false positives or response times.
  • Experience crafting detections and response playbooks specifically for AI/ML pipelines (protecting training data, models, and inference endpoints).
  • Experience integrating or migrating SIEM/EDR stacks in hybrid multi-cloud environments within China, including use of native CSP log APIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build team culture, cultivate psychological safety, and champion continuous learning.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: 216,000 USD - 345,000 USD (determined based on location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions).
  • Eligible for equity and NVIDIA benefits (see NVIDIA benefits page).

Additional info

  • Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States.
  • Employment type: Full time.
  • Applications accepted at least until October 11, 2025.
