Details

You will lead the cross-functional product team for Asset Connectivity within Eneco’s Business Capability Team Assets, owning the technical landscape for mission-critical Asset Steering platforms. This is a hands-on engineering manager role (approx. 20% coding) responsible for technical direction, architectural integrity, scalability and security, and for growing and mentoring a team of ~10 engineers. The role bridges OT and Cloud, delivering solutions that connect and steer wind (off- and onshore), solar, batteries, heat and gas-powered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow an agile engineering team (10 FTE) delivering Asset Connectivity and steering solutions for renewable assets.
  • Drive technical excellence across OT and Cloud platforms and bridge Mission Critical IT with OT.
  • Shape and own the technical roadmap, ensuring architectural integrity, scalability and security.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to assess feasibility, suggest technical trade-offs, and align delivery with business priorities.
  • Facilitate team rituals (stand-ups, reviews, retros) and ensure strong delivery and team health.
  • Recruit, mentor and coach engineers across specialisms and foster an engineering culture focused on high code quality, experimentation and best practices.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical vision.
  • Actively contribute to development (approx. 20% hands-on).

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Operational Technology (OT), with over 2 years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven track record delivering complex OT products in mission-critical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with OT stacks (examples cited: SCADA, RTU) and Cloud (IaaS, PaaS).
  • Familiarity with engineering practices such as CI/CD.
  • Strong architecture, scalability and security awareness for distributed and mission-critical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to discuss architecture with developers and trade-offs with product leaders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect technical execution to business value.

Benefits

  • Gross annual salary between €95,000 and €145,000 (including FlexBudget and 8% holiday allowance; role-dependent bonus or collective profit sharing).
  • FlexBudget (take as cash, extra holiday days or save it).
  • Personal and professional growth support and development opportunities.
  • Hybrid working model: work from Rotterdam headquarters and remotely (work 40% at the office, 40% from home, 20% flexible; limited abroad work with manager approval).
  • Opportunity to lead impactful technological advancements in sustainable energy and to work on mission-critical engineering projects.

Location & Working Model

  • Rotterdam headquarters (hybrid working with remote flexibility and up to 3 weeks/year working abroad with approval).
