About Market Risk Management of ING NL

We are responsible for managing the balance sheet of ING NL. We do this by hedging our Interest Rate and Liquidity risks in close cooperation with Group Treasury. We maintain close relations with our business stakeholders, advise them on product and pricing changes and make them aware of all relevant (macro-economic) trends and consequences.

The team

We use state-of-the-art risk and client behavior modelling methods and technologies to explore, analyse, and leverage data. The department consists of an energetic team of ca. 30 highly qualified international professionals. We have an Agile way of working and believe that empowerment is crucial for you to be successful.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with MRM and Data Management you will work on specifying, developing and testing a crucial data quality framework ensuring that the business requirements are reflected in the Cognos dashboard and a production process with clearly outlined responsibilities is defined.
  • Prepare, analyse and enhance various risk reports used for both internal and regulatory measurements of Interest Rate and Liquidity risks.
  • Develop Excel-, SQL- or PowerBI-based (risk) reports based on the target risk system and data.
  • Work within an Agile team and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reports and data-quality checks.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a Dutch university Master (MSc) student in Econometrics, Economics or other Finance/quantitative degree (during the internship it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university; EU-university accepted for EU passport holders).
  • Available for at least 6 months.
  • Self-starter, result-driven and flexible with a hands-on attitude.
  • Keen interest in Financial Markets, financial instruments and Market Risk (Interest Rate and Liquidity risk).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Good IT skills: PowerBI and SQL explicitly mentioned; experience with Excel and familiarity with Cognos are advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
