Details

The Business Customer Database (BCDB) department is responsible for managing customer data at the core of ABN AMRO's operations. BCDB is modernizing its systems, bridging legacy technologies (including mainframes) and modern cloud-native solutions to improve speed, reliability and adaptability. As a Junior Intern you will gain hands-on experience in managing and modernizing customer data systems and work with both legacy and modern tools. Candidates should be proactive and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Support the BCDB team in maintaining and modernizing customer data systems.
  • Work with both legacy (mainframe) systems and modern components in a hybrid technology landscape.
  • Contribute to backend and frontend tasks as guided by mentors (e.g., API work, small microservice features, basic UI tasks).
  • Follow Agile and DevOps workflows; participate in team ceremonies and code reviews.
  • Learn and apply cloud fundamentals and data-handling best practices.

Requirements

  • Education: MBO-level internship (open to candidates with 0+ years experience).
  • Programming: Basics of Java (preferred) or other programming languages.
  • Databases: Knowledge of SQL and basic database concepts.
  • Version control: Familiarity with Git.
  • Backend basics: Understanding of REST APIs and backend systems.
  • Cloud fundamentals: Introductory understanding of cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).
  • Event-driven architecture: Awareness of Kafka or similar technologies.
