Information about the position

Vinted backend engineers work in Product Engineering teams. These teams have all the main competencies that are needed to ship new features to our members without outside help (cross-functional). Usually, such teams have mobile platform engineers (iOS, Android), web engineers, and two or three backend engineers. Backend engineers implement business logic and write APIs that our mobile and web platforms can use. They are also responsible for growing our backend platform to handle a wider scale.

Our Transactional Experience domain focuses on ensuring a seamless transactional experience for Vinted members once they place an order and we are looking for a backend engineer who’s skilled at writing elegant code and likes to work on big-scale projects.

Your main objective will be to gear our product towards overcoming future challenges while advancing Vinted's vision of making second-hand the first choice. Focusing on perfecting the pricing and discounts experience, you'll strive to guarantee our platform in general and pricing in particular continually exceeds user expectations, offering maximum value and satisfaction. Join us in crafting solutions that deeply resonate with our members, igniting positive change, and fostering lasting loyalty.

In this position, you’ll

• Continue to grow golang service that is handling 60k RPS load with millions of price points calculated every second
• Work with continuously tested and deployed applications by adding more tests and more features
• Work with a freshly developed and extracted servicein golang, experience with go is preferred but not strictly required
• Handle a wide range of event-driven data projections and produce the events yourself for other systems
• Collaborate with the team to enhance our members' experiences, primarily focusing on pricing and discounts
• Gain opportunities to contribute to the development of new services and drive significant changes
• Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work
• Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
• See your code affect 85 million users almost instantly. Our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge
• Break down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components and services
• Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, DataDog
• Own SLIs/SLOs in the product team
• Effectively partner across teams to prioritize and deliver results
• Provides direct and impactful feedback in team and larger functions and seeks out feedback from other team members to grow

About you

• You can bring your experience in designing and implementing RESTful services. We're looking for candidates who can architect robust APIs that deliver seamless experiences to our users.
• Dive into the world of Go and leverage its power to build scalable and efficient backend systems. Whether you're a seasoned Go developer or eager to deepen your expertise, we welcome your passion for this versatile language.
• You should be willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts.
• Not afraid of ruby (yes - we do need to read/fix it sometimes)
• You're not just content with the status quo – you're driven to elevate it. If you spot an opportunity for improvement, you don't hesitate to champion your ideas and drive meaningful change within the team.
• You are familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Systems Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture, and Event-driven architecture.
• You understand enterprise architecture patterns, (micro)services, and their pros/cons.
• You are a great team player and can engage in constructive and healthy conflict, expressing your views openly, while maintaining respect and professionalism towards colleagues.

The salary range for this position is € 3,975 - € 6,725 gross per month.
