ING Americas Tech supports Wholesale Banking products across Financial Markets, Lending and Capital Markets. The Stream Aligned Team supports US businesses by maintaining systems (in collaboration with global teams) and building/operating local applications. The Operations (DevOps) Engineer will work with infrastructure, technology operations and cross-functional teams to ensure performance, stability and security of in-house services and to automate deployments, testing and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, support and run the in-house IPA service consisting of multiple components, including the in-memory Trade Store (Java based, Apache Ignite, Linux technologies, distributed systems architecture), Calculation/Risk Engine, Static Data Manager, workflow Orchestrator and Post Processing application.
  • Take ownership of incident management and perform root cause analysis for unavailability and data quality issues; communicate directly with users (Traders, Credit/Market Risk Managers) across Amsterdam, London, Brussels, New York and Singapore.
  • Implement and operate modern tooling with a strong focus on performance, stability and security.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities: testing of existing features, performance and security tests, automation of deployments, monitoring and related operational tasks.
  • Apply and document IT Risk & security controls in line with the ING Information Security Management Policy.
  • Continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps.
  • Through Agile/Scrum, collaborate with other Ops engineers (locally and centrally) to deliver sprint releases every 2–4 weeks to Acceptance and Production.
  • Occasional travel abroad (Amsterdam / Brussels).

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of CI/CD practices and experience with Git.
  • Experience with Python, Ansible and shell scripting.
  • Working experience with JVM-based applications (Java).
  • Strong Linux skills (RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 or 8).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Grafana and alerting tools such as Prometheus.
  • Good understanding of the ELK Stack and how to interact with it.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Confluence, ServiceNow and Checkmarx.
  • Experience or affinity with IT Risk & Security concepts and controls.
  • IT Operations / Support experience, including functional support to end users (e.g., Traders, Risk Managers) and analytical skills to identify root causes in workflow incidents (data, technical, functional).
  • Customer focus and a mindset to find and resolve root causes to structurally improve the customer experience.
  • Good team player, cross-functional, comfortable interacting with people of all levels in a multicultural environment; proactive and attentive.
