In the Data Services area of tribe Cloud, a position of Product Manager (Product Owner) for the Oracle DBaaS platform has become available.
The Team
The purpose of the Global Tribe Cloud is to build and run the target infrastructure platform in a (private) cloud delivery model. This delivery model is based on multi-tenant, self-service, pay-per-use capabilities for application/consumer DevOps teams.
Tribe Cloud comprises five Global Areas:
- Infrastructure as a Service
- Data Services
- Container Services
- Cloud API Management
- Integration Services
The Oracle DBaaS platform is a key part of the ING Private Cloud and area Data Services. The >4000 Oracle databases running on this platform support numerous critical business services of ING organizations worldwide. About 50 people in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and India work on this platform.
As Product Manager you define the strategy of your service, set intermediate goals, and prioritize work. Along with other product managers, a central product manager, architect, and IT Area Lead, you ensure the platform's reliability, security, and growth readiness. You take responsibility for one or more squads; currently, the Monitoring & Observability squad in Katowice (7 engineers) is open. Rotation among squads can occur.
Monitoring & observability mainly use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for hardware and database monitoring and alerting. Strategy aims to reduce reliance on a single tool and deliver observability via standardized tools within ING. Initiatives include consumer reports on compliance and SLIs and AI-driven issue prediction.
You own delivery and solutions, reporting impediments or requests clearly. HR responsibility lies with chapter leads.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the squad to maintain and update OEM, prioritize tasks, provide clarity, and remove impediments.
- Own the backlog with user stories and features using Azure DevOps.
- Manage service/product risks.
- Create strategy to integrate Oracle DBaaS platform into ING standardized monitoring and observability tooling.
- Inform stakeholders on roadmap and delivery progress; handle communication on impediments and incidents; facilitate consumer boards.
- Collaborate with chapter leads to ensure squad composition and performance.
Requirements
- 3+ years as Product Manager/Product Owner or Project/Program Manager in complex international technology-focused agile environments.
- IT infrastructure domain experience mandatory, ideally with Oracle databases, Exadata hardware, Oracle Enterprise Manager, or observability tools.
- Willingness to travel to Katowice, Poland for 2-3 days quarterly.
Additional desired but not mandatory:
- Experience with Azure DevOps backlog management.
- Strong analysis, documentation skills, and ability to decompose requirements into epics and user stories.
- Inspiring presenter and effective stakeholder communicator.
- Experience with ING infrastructure or ING Private Cloud.
- Higher technical education or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent English; Dutch or Polish beneficial but not required.
