Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster by providing performance and error monitoring tools. The Sales Engineer will be an early member of the North America Sales Engineering team, serving as a technical expert throughout the customer journey β€” from demos and trials to implementations and technical support. This role partners with sales, product, engineering, marketing, and customer success to drive adoption and success for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Bring technical expertise to customer demos, trials, implementations, and support tickets.
  • Develop best practices, educational offerings, and content around error and performance management, open-source, and Sentry product functionality (how-to articles, videos, code samples, demos).
  • Provide workshop-level interactions to drive customer maturity and broader adoption.
  • Collaborate across marketing, engineering, customer success, support, and product teams to represent the customer voice and influence product improvements.
  • Attend conferences and speak with prospects at the company booth when needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years as a Pre-Sales Engineer (preferred), Implementation Consultant, or Software Developer with experience leading projects, presenting solutions, and working with customers.
  • Experience developing mobile apps (native iOS, Android or multi-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter) is highly desired.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages including JavaScript, Java, Swift/Cocoa, Python, Go, .NET, Ruby, Node.js, etc.
  • Experience with performance monitoring, OpenTelemetry, and code instrumentation is desired but not required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to interface with engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Understanding of sales processes in a high-transaction sales environment and experience selling/working with pure SaaS solutions (experience with infrastructure tools is a plus).
  • BS degree in Engineering, preferably Computer Science/Engineering.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, process-guided environment and creating technical content and demos from scratch.

Benefits

  • Base salary range: $130,000 to $165,000 plus variable compensation. Actual salary will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and other factors.
