Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster by building performance and error monitoring tools used by organizations worldwide. This role sits on the JavaScript SDK team and focuses on developing SDKs and developer tooling across the JavaScript ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Work across Sentry's suite of JavaScript SDKs (browser, React, Node.js, Next.js) with a particular focus on the Next.js SDK.
- Take end-to-end ownership: plan, implement, test (unit & integration), document, and ship features and SDK improvements.
- Build and maintain build & CLI tools that support SDK development and developer workflows.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to improve productivity and the developer experience.
- Represent Sentry in open-source communities and working groups (e.g., TC39, OpenTelemetry SIG).
- Collaborate directly with Customer Operations to triage and fix critical issues and engage with users on GitHub and at conferences.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, web developer, or similar role.
- Deep expertise in developing web applications, libraries, or SDKs using TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with Next.js.
- Experience working with React and Node.js as part of SDK or web/library development.
- Experience writing robust unit and integration tests and clear technical documentation.
- Comfortable contributing to and maintaining open-source projects and interacting with open-source communities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Based in (or willing to relocate to) the Toronto, Canada area.

- History of contributing to or maintaining open-source libraries.
- Experience engaging with open-source committees or working groups.
Work model
- Hybrid work model. Sentry specifies in-office anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to encourage collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits
- The base salary range that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is CAD $185,000 to $237,000. Actual base salary will be determined by factors such as work location, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. Eligible candidates may participate in Sentry's employee benefit plans/programs (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance).
