The technical writing team produces clear, precise, and user-focused documentation that enhances product experience. Senior Technical Writers work closely with product managers, engineers, and UX designers to ensure documentation supports functionality, usability, accessibility, and product adoption.
Responsibilities
- Create clear, accurate, and complex technical documentation, including advanced user guides, product overviews, API references, and release notes.
- Set documentation standards and ensure content aligns with style guidelines, business objectives, and product strategy.
- Anticipate documentation needs proactively during the product lifecycle and integrate documentation into product planning.
- Maintain quality and consistency across documentation by establishing best practices, performing in-depth reviews, and ensuring usability and accessibility.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level writers; provide strategic peer reviews and foster cross-functional partnerships with product, UX, engineering, and support teams.
- Lead efforts to gather, analyze, and act on customer and field feedback; partner with UX research and customer success to identify trends and opportunities.
- Own complex documentation initiatives spanning multiple product areas or releases; develop and manage project plans, prioritize deliverables, and manage risks and dependencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or equivalent experience preferred). A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is listed.
- 7+ years of experience in technical writing or related roles, with a proven track record producing documentation for complex software products.
- Expertise in industry-standard tools (examples listed: MadCap Flare, Git, Markdown, XML/DITA, Confluence) and ability to evaluate and introduce new tools and workflows.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps environments and ability to integrate documentation into iterative development cycles.
- Strong project leadership abilities for planning, prioritizing, and delivering documentation across multiple product lines or cross-functional teams.
- Ability to ramp up quickly on complex technologies and translate technical details into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences.
- Experience mentoring other writers and contributing to the growth and maturity of the documentation function.
- Attention to detail balanced with strategic perspective — focusing on usability, scalability, and long-term content strategy.

- Within Your Third Month: Deepen product understanding, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and make targeted documentation enhancements based on feedback.
- Within Your Sixth Month: Achieve deep expertise in your product area, lead strategic documentation initiatives, integrate user feedback, and become a go-to resource.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $128,000 - $160,000 per year. This position is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on experience, skills, and location.
- In addition to base salary, Collibra offers equity ownership, bonus potential, a Flex Fund monthly stipend, pension/401(k) plans, and other benefits.
